O.C.T.
Optical Coherence Tomography (O.C.T) is a non-invasive technology used to image the retina. Similar to a C.T. Scan “Cat Scan,” O.C.T uses optical back scattering of light to quickly scan and image the retina at the back of the eye. Each of the ten layers of the retina can be viewed, and it thickness measured. For conditions such as age related macular degeneration (A.M.D) and cystoid macula edema, sometimes seen with diabetes. O.C.T helps with diagnosis and decision-making in regards to a referral to a Retinologist.
